At the beginning of August, I attended the 2nd Annual Conference on Active Learning hosted by the University of Minnesota. I went with seven of my colleagues from the College of Nursing -- several of us have been trying out active learning techniques. I only wish we had an active learning classroom like this!
The University of Minnesota has a new building with eight different active learning classrooms. They're finishing one right now that will be able to hold 300 students!
At the conference, we heard presentations from all of the country (and Canada) about the research supporting active learning classrooms as an environment that improves student learning. For more information about the conference, click here.
